How to Celebrate Valentine's Day at Home (Kids Included)

So, last year was our first ever Valentine's Day at home with the kiddos. Paul and I would usually go out, just the two of us, but, with restaurant reservations needing to be made months in advance, menu price increases, and it usually landing on a weekday, we decided ENOUGH! Why are we not sharing this holiday with our kids? I mean, it's the holiday devoted to love, right? And it's not like we don't have date nights.

So I (of course) went right into full on party planner mode!

I wanted to make everything feel SPECIAL and FANCY. Sequin place mats, fancy glasses, and candles are just a few of the things that made this Valentine's Day a little "extra". Scroll down to see some of the fun we had. You can also click on the photo to shop!

Oh, and if you're wondering why these look like current pictures, it's because they are! I didn't take many photos from last year and I really wanted to get this post out before the big day so you guys could have a little inspiration. So yes, I made my family do a before Valentine's Day photo shoot with me. Yep, they are all very good sports, but hey, they basically got two Valentine's Day celebrations out of it - two special dinners, two special desserts, etc. Believe me, they're not really suffering!

My hope with this post is that you'll rethink the traditional Valentine's Day and maybe choose to do something a little different. Valentine's Day doesn't have to be for just couples - it can be for the whole family! As always, I'd love to hear your feedback.
